About LFCU
Lafayette Federal Credit Union is one of the premiere financial institutions in the Washington, D.C. area. Since our founding in 1935, we have sought to provide our members with a safe and convenient place to save, and to offer loans at rates and terms more favorable than those of other financial institutions. We also work hard to provide top-notch customer service.

Throughout the years, the kinds of financial services that we offer have changed to keep pace with the changing financial needs of our growing and diverse membership. If you're interested in a financial service that we don't currently offer, please let us know. Listening to member needs, and responding accordingly, has made us the trusted financial institution that we are today.

Board of Directors
Our 9-member Board of Directors, which is elected by the membership, is responsible for establishing and revising policy, setting savings dividends and loan interest rates, and overseeing operations. Because we are a member-owned and member-controlled financial institution, each member has an equal vote in the Board elections, as well as the opportunity to serve as a Board official. Supervisory Committee
The Board is also responsible for appointing the Supervisory Committee. The committee assures our adherence to governmental regulations and Board policies and serves as a sounding board for LFCU members, investigating complaints and other member concerns. The Supervisory Committee also audits our financial records and works closely with our accountants to conduct the annual audit of the credit union.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is chaired by current Board Member Richard Ginsburg and meets quarterly at LFCU’s headquarters in Kensington, Maryland.  The purpose of this committee will be to create an environment for collaboration in discussions on the needs of existing and future members and to offer suggestions to enhance and improve the products and services provided to the membership.
