DETAILED MFA INSTRUCTIONS
As of July 19, 2007 you will be given an opportunity to enable a stronger security measure
protecting your account information from unauthorized persons. The new security measure is called Multi-Factor
Authentication, or MFA.
To set up your MFA:
- Enter your Lafayette account number in the e-Banking Logon form on the regular Lafayette FCU homepage.
For the moment, ignore the opportunity to install the TraceAssure Toolbar. We recommend you install
the Toolbar anytime after you complete the MFA installation.
- On the next page enter your normal Account Password. This will take you to the page that allows you
to authenticate your computer for PCU. Read the steps and select “Continue”. This will automatically
save a Lafayette cookie to your computer to help identify you when you log into PCU in the future.
- You will see a notification that your computer has been authorized. Click the “Continue”
button.
- This will bring you to the page where you will enter a secondary password (at least 6 digits), retype
the same password, and enter a password reminder. You may want to refer to a Help file near the top
of the page that explains all of the terms on this page.
- Enter a “Verification Phrase” in the space provided. This phrase will automatically appear
on your screen each time you log into PCU in the future. The phrase will verify that you are logging
into the authentic Lafayette FCU log-in page.
- Enter your email address into the space provided, and, if you choose, your cell phone or pager number.
Select one of the check boxes in order to be automatically notified whenever someone logs into your
Lafayette account. Your email address is important because it is also used to send you a temporary password
if you forget your secondary password.
- Click the “Save” button. Then click “login” to log into your PCU account.
From now on, you will log in to PCU normally, so long as you are logging in from an authenticated computer.
If you log in from an alternative computer, you will be asked to use your secondary password and given
the opportunity to authenticate the new computer if you wish. We encourage you to authenticate any computer
you own. Of course, you would not want to authenticate a public computer that others have access to (for
example, a library or classroom computer).
We appreciate your cooperation as the credit union continues improving its systems to better serve you
and protect your information.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at mfa@lfcu.org.
