Credit unions are designed to give consumers a better way to bank, based on establishing a relationship with members in which they are part owners of the financial institutions, not stockholders. At Lafayette Federal, we abide by the credit union philosophy of "people helping people” and empower our members through affordable financial products and services. Financial Literacy is one of the programs we offer to aid in achieving success.

We have offered educational sessions to our members, employer groups, and the local community covering topics of personal banking basics, investment and retirement planning, business banking/entrepreneurship, credit building and re-entrance to the workforce. Additionally, we have partnered with various local schools in the area to help promote financial responsibility.

Financial Literacy

Over the years, we have hosted financial education workshops at local schools, youth centers and organizations serving the underserved. The comprehensive sessions covered a variety of relevant financial topics, including fundamentals of banking, budgeting, understanding credit and business banking basics.
