Diversity month recognizes and honors all of the qualities that make us unique! The purpose of Diversity Month is to help us gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of one another by celebrating both our differences and similarities.
Lafayette Federal proudly celebrates the diverse groups who have made a positive impact on our local communities, with a focus on the following during Diversity Month:Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month:
The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks on the project were Chinese immigrants.Jewish American Heritage Month:
First honored in May 2006, this annual recognition and celebration of Jewish American achievements acknowledges the numerous contributions to the United States.Older Americans Month:
Established in 1963, the month was chosen to honor the legacies and contributions of older Americans and to support them as they enter their next stage of life.
All Lafayette Federal branches have been decorated for the month of May to reflect the great diversity among our staff. Please stop by our branches to check out Lafayette's decorative spirit!
