Instant Payments: Get Your Money Faster

With our new Instant Payments feature, eligible payments from participating financial institutions can be sent directly to your Lafayette Federal account within seconds, not days. That means faster access to your money, including weekends and holidays.

What Are Instant Payments?

Instant Payments allows eligible payments to move from one participating financial institution to another in seconds. Unlike traditional payment methods that may take a business day or longer, Instant Payments are designed to make funds available much faster.

At Lafayette Federal, our initial Instant Payments service is receive-only. This means you can receive eligible Instant Payments into your Lafayette Federal account, but you cannot send an Instant Payment from your Lafayette Federal account at this time.

There’s no enrollment required and no fee to receive an Instant Payment.

Benefits of Instant Payments

With Instant Payments, you can:

  • Receive eligible payments within seconds
  • Access your funds quickly
  • Have payments deposited directly into your Lafayette Federal account
  • Receive payments 24/7/365, including weekends and holidays
  • No enrollment in a separate service required
  • No additional fees

How to Receive an Instant Payment

Receiving an Instant Payment is simple. You don’t need to enroll or take any action with Lafayette Federal to receive one.

  1. Provide Your Account Information

Give the sender Lafayette Federal’s routing number, 254074811, and your account number.

  1. The Sender Initiates Payment

The sender will initiate the payment through their own financial institution and select an Instant Payment option, when available.

  1. Receive Your Money

If the payment is eligible and both financial institutions support Instant Payments, the funds can be deposited directly into your Lafayette Federal account within seconds.

Keep Your Account Information Safe

Instant Payments make it easier to receive money quickly, but it’s important to protect your account information.

Only share your account number and routing number with people or businesses you know and trust. Be especially cautious of unexpected requests by text, email, social media, or phone—or anyone pressuring you to act quickly.

If you’re unsure about a request, contact the person or business using a phone number you’ve looked up yourself before sharing your information.

Remember that account information shared to receive money can potentially be used to attempt unauthorized withdrawals, so it’s important to know who you’re sharing it with.

Keep Track of Your Money with Online & Mobile Banking

Want to quickly confirm that an Instant Payment has arrived? Online & Mobile Banking gives you convenient 24/7 access to your Lafayette Federal accounts.

You can check your balance, review transaction history, monitor incoming payments, transfer money between eligible accounts, and more—all from your computer or mobile device.

What to Know About Instant Payments

Instant Payments are only available when both the sending and receiving financial institutions support the service. Payment speed and availability may also depend on the sending financial institution, payment network, account eligibility, and applicable security requirements.

It’s also important to know that Instant Payments are generally final and cannot be canceled or reversed after they are sent. Always make sure you know and trust the recipient or sender before initiating or accepting a payment.

Get Ready for Faster Payments

Instant Payments give Lafayette Federal members a faster way to receive eligible payments—without waiting for the next business day.

Whether you’re receiving money from someone you know or getting an eligible payment from another participating financial institution, you can enjoy the convenience of having your money arrive in seconds, 24/7/365.
