Building Stronger Neighborhoods: How Lafayette Federal shows up for our community.

impact

Our Mission in Action

This past year, Lafayette Federal showed up. From food drives and faculty presentations to 1×1 career mentoring, we’re committed because the communities we serve are our communities, too. You’ll find us at neighborhood festivals, small‑business workshops, and school stadiums, building relationships and delivering resources that help families thrive and achieve their goals.

Education & Financial Wellness

Financial confidence changes lives. That’s why we offer budgeting workshops, retirement planning sessions, mortgage and HELOC seminars, fraud prevention talks, and more—available both in person and online to fit our members’ busy schedules. Look for ongoing Financial Wellness Weeks, Understanding Credit webinars, and Renter‑to‑Buyer workshops taking place at all our branches in 2026.

Partnering with Schools & Youth Sports

We invest in student success and school spirit. Recent partnerships include multi‑year commitments at local high schools (including Langley, McLean, South Lakes) with support ranging from scoreboards and stadium banners to financial education opportunities for students and families.

Beyond the classroom, we team up with youth leagues, from Reston Hoops to McLean Little League, providing jerseys, equipment, and on‑site engagement so kids can play and communities can connect.

Health, Hospitals & Miracles

Thanks to the generosity of members and employees, we’ve raised over $1.1 million for Children’s Miracle Network at Children’s National Hospital, supporting lifesaving care, research, and community health programs that help kids grow stronger. Our annual campaigns and golf outings keep that momentum going.

Out & About: Where You’ll Find Us

From the Capitol Classic Golf Tournament to the Rockville Antique & Classic Car Show, from Shop with a Cop (hosted by Greenbelt Police Department) to neighborhood food‑truck nights, we love meeting you at popular local events across the DMV. We also roll up our sleeves for volunteer initiatives like Greenbelt Feed a Family and service projects at Shepherd’s Table.

In 2026, expect even more touchpoints: National Night Out across multiple communities; Shred Days (secure document destruction) in Kensington, McLean, Tower Oaks, Greenbelt, and Falls Grove; Food Truck Fridays; International Credit Union Day celebrations; and small‑business education series with chambers and partners.

By the Numbers: Sustainability Wins

Being a good neighbor includes stewardship. In 2024, our recycling efforts collected nearly 44 tons of paper, helping conserve hundreds of trees, significant water and oil, and local landfill space—proof that operational choices can create an environmental impact. We kept those efforts going in 2025 and the numbers will be reported in our annual Member Report.

Spotlight on Sponsorships

We are intentional with sponsorships, prioritizing long‑term relationships that benefit students, fans, and the broader community. Examples include multi‑year high‑school partnerships (e.g., Langley High School’s exclusive field sponsorship and digital scoreboard ads; McLean High School’s field support), plus golf tournaments that fund local causes through visibility, volunteerism, and member participation.
